Amanda Tew’s greatest passion has been helping people. With almost three decades of experience in counseling, her journey has been dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families through their most challenging times. More recently, she has extended her counseling services to include adults as well. Amanda’s commitment to making a positive impact in peoples lives has been the driving force behind her career.

From the beginning, Amanda’s path in counseling was guided by a desire to understand and address the unique needs of children and youth. She embarked on her professional journey by becoming certified as a Child and Youth Worker (CYW) through Mohawk College. This certification laid the foundation for her understanding of the developmental stages and challenges faced by young individuals. As her knowledge and experience grew, she pursued further certification as a Child and Youth Counselor (CYC), enabling her to delve deeper into mental health and behavioral issues affecting children and adolescents.

Throughout her career, Amanda has had the privilege of working in various settings, including group homes, treatment centers, and the school system. These experiences have provided her with invaluable insights into the complex needs of individuals and families. They have enhanced her skills and prepared her for the challenges she encounters in her private practice. As a parent herself and someone who has worked closely with other parents, she understands the multifaceted challenges that parents face and has made it a goal to help parents not only navigate these challenges but also experience the many rewards that come with parenthood.

Over the years, Amanda has developed expertise in a wide range of areas, including behavior management, self-control and emotional regulation, anxiety management, social skills development, self-esteem enhancement, divorce counseling, coping strategies, and mental health support. Her experience working within various professional organizations and her specialization in these areas have equipped her with a toolkit of supportive strategies to assist clients in overcoming their difficulties. Amanda is thrilled to bring her counseling services to clients of all ages, as she believes that support and guidance are essential throughout the lifespan. Whether its helping children cope with anxiety, guiding parents through the challenges of raising resilient children, or providing counseling for adults and couples dealing with relationship issues, Amanda is committed to offering safe, confidential, and supportive counseling for the entire family.

Amanda’s counseling approach is solution-focused, aiming to empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives. She integrates evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Play Therapy into her practice. By understanding the inner workings of our brains and the reasons behind our behaviors, individuals gain a greater understanding of themselves and discover their ability to make meaningful changes.

As Amanda reflects on her journey, she is filled with gratitude for the opportunity to walk alongside people and provide them with encouragement, guidance, and strategies during their most difficult times. The trust her clients place in her fuels her dedication and commitment to making a positive impact in their lives.
